Hiking

retreat activitiesThere are many varied and wonderful walks on the property, some challenging (like a hike to the top of Mt Bellenden Ker) but most, a leisurely stroll through the unspoiled rainforest.

Photography

A nature lovers dream, you will have the opportunity to capture native wildlife in their natural environment such as: the striped possum, tree kangaroo's, the flightless cassowary, platypus, peacocks, red bush turkeys, Ulysses and Cairns birdwing butterfly, the iconic green-tree frog, wahoo pigeon, fireflies and hundreds more.

Explore the rainforest and for the adventurous spirit take a hike up the mountain, swim in secret rock ponds, and have a natural spa in the running streams, a perfect alternative for a romantic afternoon. At dusk you will see the fairies of the rainforest, fireflies come alive and illuminate the rainforest as if in a fairytale.

Bird watching

Even if you aren't an expert in bird watching you can't help but admire the huge array of tropical bird life that live all around you. For your comfort and convenience why not use the eco-club buggy to explore the property.

Atherton Tablelands - a food and waterfall trail

You may wish to start with Babinda at the Boulders, the famous water spot with massive boulders and swimming spot along with a number of nature walks or Josephine Falls, approx 20 minutes south of Babinda, offering more rainforest walks and magnificent waterfalls.

When you make your way up to the tablelands, there are several more waterfalls, but why not first stop at Tichum Creek Coffee Farm on the Kennedy Hwy, Mareeba followed by Gallo Dairyland at Malanda Rd, Atherton for a chocolate or Cheese tasting before continuing on to the most photographed and spectacular Millaa Millaa waterfall.

After you have done your waterfall hopping, take the time to visit the many different small towns and farms in the area including: Mungali Creek Dairy at Brooks Rd, Millaa Millaa famous for its beautifully fresh biodynamic and organic milk. Ravenshoe, a quaint town that is the highest in Queensland.

Tolga is famous for its woodworks and woodcraft museum and also has an interesting Railway Museum. Yungaburra the heritage- listed village is famous for its fine restaurants, beautiful buildings, festivals, arts & crafts and monthly markets. Nearby is curtain fig tree, and the platypus viewing platform.

Paronella Park

Why not explore the romance of Paronella Park A short 45-minute trip south towards the Mena Creek, a visit here will transport you to the 1930’s and a beautiful Spanish castle built by Jose Paronella. Take part in the bush tucker walk, indigenous cultural performances or simply stroll through the beauty of the area.
